Johnny's II
16"x20"
Acrylic on Canvas
$150
"This
painting has special meaning to me as it is a depiction of my
Father's produce stand. After retiring from years as a steel
worker he grew tomatoes and fresh vegetables on the grounds beside
our home. This red stand was his means of selling and talking to
the neighborhood. Our house along with many other details of my
family memories are in this one of a kind artwork. USA shipping

Rails and Mills
11"x14"
Acrylic on Canvas board
$75
"My
family has a long history with Bethlehem Steel and I am on a quest
to learn more about the steel industry in America. As I feel the
great effect our steel factories had on the building of the USA
and protection of our country, painting expressions happen in my
Outsider style. Here the mills are working hard as seen by the
blast furnace sparks and the railroad runs along the foreground.

Spanish Dancer
14"x11
Acrylic on Canvas Board
$70
"I
have always liked the thought of a dark haired woman with a red
dress dancing. Perhaps it is because as a little girl a friend
had a beautiful Spanish doll with a bright red dress sitting on
her bed. Memories are so hard to forget and maybe it is better to
keep the expression alive in a painting. (USA shipping included

Every now and
then someone pops up that makes you wonder "Where have you been
and where did you come from?" Mary Carol is such an artist. She
exhibits so many abilities in just these eight representative works.
One of the best finds of the year. Amazing use of color and an innate
sense of structure. Her work will not be offered at these prices for
very long. Pick up a couple
now, you'll be glad you did in a couple of years.
Mary Carol
in her own words...
"I love
to paint. I can't say like so many Outsider Artists that I have been
painting all my life because I never even allowed myself the thought
that I had an ability. Creative people I thought were born with
great talent and educated it early. I attended twelve years of
Catholic School and art was not encouraged in my years of growing
up. I became a Registered Nurse and raised my son-encouraged
his creativity but still thought I was not an artist person.
In 2001 an artist friend called and offered me a gift of a
drawing class she was giving. I went (not that I
could remember us talking about any artistic desire on my part) and
had the least talent of the group. But...I had a good time and
found a few things I drew looking like something. She told me
not to be discouraged. Discouraged NO yet I still didn't
follow this lead. Until a stressful day in early 2004 when I
picked up a leaf and found a piece of paper in my husband's studio
and drew and painted it. Then I bought a set of gouache paints ( I
liked the name) and painted three ideas on watercolor
paper. In three years I have sold over 500 works. My subjects-EVERTHING-I
need to teach myself and enjoy so much. Cities have been a
favorite with my customers and a challenge to me. The first
one I painted, all the buildings fanned out and my husband said it
was like looking through a fish eye lens. (Some nice gentleman in
California owns it) The name I give my cities is RAZZY because they
are colorful and joyful. I work on watercolor paper, canvas,
canvas board and everything that doesn't move. I like to paint
mainly with acrylics, but also oil, pastel and watercolor/guoache.
Encouragement is such a pat on the back. I have had another
artist tell me my work is poetic, like Milton Avery ( I had to look
him up) and a gentleman in England has shown my work in a
gallery there. I have sent pieces to The Netherlands, Israel,
Puerto Rico and I think every state of the USA. In return I
have made friends that I smile with, rapport with and even shed
tears of grief with at time.
A special direction you will see-Steel Mills-in a few of my works
and many more in my lifetime. I was born in 1952 to a steel
mill Forman and a lovely housewife. My two grandfathers, father,
uncle, and brother all worked for Bethlehem Steel. As a girl
child of the '50's, I was not allowed much physical connection
to the mills now I am creating my own vision.
Now I am making folk art pins and assemblages using wood, old
costume jewelry and found finds. Thank you so much for your interest
and please eMail me any questions. I paint almost daily and
have lots of works available. "
