Jessie Lavon (1955)

Visionary Art is very proud to be the exclusive representative of Jessie Lavon. Jessie was born in 1955 in Demopolis, Alabama into a sharecroppers family. Both Jessie's mother and grandmother were self taught artists as well as conjure artists, who both taught Jessie the conjure art of sticks, stones, roots and bones.

Jessie's art is in collections and museums in the U.S.A, Canada and Europe. It has been written up in magazines like Raw Vision and Southern Lady. Jessie's art has been shown at the Huntsville Museum along with the art of Grand Ma Moses and Norman Rockwell. She has also shown her works at the Atlanta Folk Fest and at Kentuck with artist like Lisa Cain, Woodie Long, and Jimmy Lee Sudduth.

On Sept 23,after the death of her beloved Mother who died in her arms, Jessie decided to retire from the folk art circuit and is now showing her work exclusively through Visionaryart.com.

Jessie's work is very reasonably priced and is absolutely beautiful. These are not giclees or prints, these are hand-painted original works of art. Jessie's work is currently an outstanding value. Pick up a few of these quickly!
