Annie Geraldine Savage Wellborn (1928)

Annie Wellborn is a very important American Folk artist. Annie is known for her Memory Paintings which contain scenes from her childhood in rural Georgia. Angels are also a frequent subject of Annie's. Many of her works are painted on found materials like tarpaper, scrap fabric and discarded wallpaper swatches.
Chuck and Jan Rosenak included Annie in there definitive book “Contemporary American Folk Art.” Annie's work is well-represented in some of the most important public and private collections.

Annie Wellborn was born in Lexington, Georgia. Annie had a vision from the Lord in which He told her that she would spread the Gospel with her art.

Through her painting, she reveals visions she's had of angels, mostly flying over her bed. She also has had visitations by "fireballs" which mark the impending death of family and close friends.

Annie's work is part of the Georgia Museum and New York Historical Association in Cooperstown collections.
