Ernest Lee (1962)

Born in South Carolina, Ernest Lee began drawing when he was 5 years old. By the age of twelve, he began painting cartoons and doing paint-by-number sets. With the encouragement of his High School art teacher, Ernest started to work more seriously on his craft.

His used canvas in his early work, but now, like so many other Outsider Artists, his medium of choice is latex paint on wood. These materials are more durable and much less expensive.

Today, Ernest has sold more than 11,000 works and they appear in many prominent collections. The University of Georgia at Athens has several of his works on display.
