Ab The Flag Man (1964)

Ab the Flagman is a life-long artist, (Ab being short for "Abstract.") Ab began transforming found objects into works of art after his father's death. His affection for flags was inspired by the military burial. Ab quickly became known as "The Flagman." Ab creates all sorts of flags, focusing mainly on his unique renditions of the United States stars and stripes.

Pieces by Ab have been well received and have earned  several awards at many prestigious art festivals. Art 54 in New York has featured Ab's work. Pieces by Ab hang in selected House of Blues venues all across the U.S.

Work by Ab often commands five figures. His work has adorned magazine covers and is in the permanent collection of the New Britain Museum of American Art, Texas State University, and the Microsoft Art Collection.

This piece is a very early work, numbered 215. It depicts the flag of Ab's home state of Georgia. This is the flag as it was before the Georgia Legislature altered it in 2001.
